Broadreach Children’s Art Show at Belfast Free Library, Sing-A-Long This Saturday

Works from the Broadreach Family & Community Services Children’s Art Show at the Belfast Free Library.

Celebrating the Week of the Young Child, artwork from children in Broadreach Family & Community Services’ Early Childhood Education classrooms in Belfast, Brooks, Liberty, Morrill, Swanville, and Unity are currently on display at the Belfast Free Library in the Children’s Area on the second floor and in the Abbott Room.  The colorful and imaginative works were accomplished with a variety of mediums and represent the work of many of the area’s three to five year old artists.


The Week of the Young Child will culminate in an hour long Sing-A-Long on Saturday, April 16th from 11:00 am – noon in the Abbott Room.  This free family-friendly event is open to the public and will feature fun, interactive songs that children and adults will enjoy.

Jeff Carty Steven Fein

Jeffrey Carty of Thomaston             Steven Fein of Northport

Sharon Goguen, MEd, Chair of the Broadreach Family & Community Services Board of Directors, has announced two new community representatives have joined the non-profit organization’s board.  They are Steven Fein of Northport and Jeffrey Carty of Thomaston.

Steven Fein owned a private clinical practice for sixteen years, providing services to families and individuals and served as a consultant to schools and the Department of Human Services.  He had previously served as a Clinician and Consultant for Mid-Coast Mental Health Center and taught at the Mid-Coast Community College.  Fein earned his Master’s Degree in Community Psychology from Goddard College and his Bachelors of Science degree in Human Relations from Boston University School of Business Administration.

Jeffrey Carty is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Maine in the field of human services.  He retired from his position of Program Administrator for the Maine Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Children and Families in 2009.  Carty worked for the Department for thirty-two years.  Since his retirement, Carty has been a consultant to the Maine Children’s Alliance and the University of Maine Muskie School, Child Welfare Institute.  He earned his Master of Social Work degree from San Diego State University and his Bachelor of Arts degree from Colby College in Waterville.

Broadreach Family & Community Services has provided community services since 1983.  The agency offers Early Childhood Education and Support Services, Behavioral Health and Case Management Services, Youthlinks middle and high school out-of-school programs, and Prevention programs and services to over 1,000 children, youth, adults, and families in Waldo and Knox counties and surrounding communities.  The Board of Directors serve in a volunteer capacity.  For more information, contact Broadreach Family & Community Services at 338-2200 extension 102, view the website at www.broadreachmaine.org or visit Broadreach on Facebook.
