Broadreach has an immediate opening for a full time Parent Partner position that will cover both Lincoln and Sagadahoc Counties. You will use a Peer Support model in working with families to increase child safety and decrease family stressors, while utilizing your own personal experiences. Personal experience navigating through the child welfare system is a requirement for this position.
Responsibilities:
- Parent Partners will provide 1:1 coaching and emotional support to parents on their caseload by sharing their story.
- Meet with parents in their homes 7-10 hours per month.
- Facilitate group workshops for parents currently working on reunification.
- Facilitate Preventative Family Team Meetings in the community.
- Attend various community groups to represent “Parent Voice.”
- Provide prevention referrals to families in need of assistance.
- Accompany parents to court for support.
Requirements:
- Experience having been a parent in, and basic knowledge of, the Department’s Child Welfare System.
- Experience working in a Human Services setting with families in a supportive role is preferred.
- Experience working with people of diverse cultures and socio-economic backgrounds is helpful.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all constituencies, including parents, children, regulatory agencies, and the community at large.
- Effective communication, writing and presentation skills.
- Good judgment, decision making and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable (per Broadreach criteria) driving record to transport clients.
- Ability to participate in various training requirements.
Education Requirements:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
